The Spyker C8 Review

Today I will be writing about the very first car i will buy if I ever come across a spare $200000. A ferrari? A lamborghini? A porsche? None of the above! Why would anyone spend that much money on such common cars? If you are in the market for an exotic car, don't you want your car to be exotic? This is a car that a vast majority of the world does not know exists. I'm talking about a dutch automotive legend (yes, such a thing exists). I'm talking about, THE SPYKER C8. What is this exotic car? Well, it's a bit like a Lotus Elise for the rich. I mean this by saying that it's a lightweight miracle of automotive engineering. It's also a bit like a Rolls Royce for those who aren't 700 years old. I say that in meaning that this car has a lavish interior unmatched by anything but a Rolls Royce (Except a Rolls is a horribly ugly looking car and this is something someone might actually drive with "sports car pride"). Finally there is something it has that cannot be compared to any other brand of car, EXTREME EXCLUSIVITY. This car has such limited production runs that I can almost guarantee that this car is the only exotic sports car you can buy that you will never find another of driving by on the road, unless you look for one at say, a car show. This car has a wonderfully tuned and tinkered Audi engine that gives plenty of power and by far the most beautiful exhaust note in the world!
Now lets go into detail about what makes this car so amazing. We'll start with the major concept of airplanes. A company by the same name (which went bankrupt and the name was bought later by this new Spyker) made WWI aircraft, and they did quite a good job. This new Spyker styles it's cars in memory of this heritage and you will see these styling elements all throughout the car. From side air intakes resembling those of WWI fighters, wheels styled to look like propeller blades, the 4 spoke propeller blade steering wheel (only on early models, later replaced with a more conventional steering wheel that actually had an airbag), even the dashboard which is fitted with dozens of incredible quality metal toggle switches like those of a real airplanes, but nicer. All these hints at its heritage. But it has so much more than that, there are minuscule details that really perfect the car, some of them being very well thought out and directed precisely at the market they are trying to tap with these cars.
Yes, these cars even have a specific market. Let me explain. This car is FAST, but not insanely fast, you will feel empowered when you open the throttle full boar, as opposed to the slight worry or fright some might get from doing so in say, a Lamborghini. This car never takes away your sense of control and thats one of the best things about it. Also in reference to the market, THIS IS NOT A COMPETITOR TO FERRARI AND LAMBO. While a ferrari or lambo is for showing off, yelling out the window at people on the street or slow people in front of you on the road, essentially being a loud exuberant 20 to 30 year old, the Spyker is more dignified. Think of it this way, in the sports car world, the Ferrari is the overpriced polo shirt, the Lamborghini is the expensive leather jacket, and the Spyker, well, it's the tailored suit and expensive tie. The ferrari might look better racing down a street doing twice the speed limit, but the Spyker looks much better in front of the nicest restaurant in town, or if you feel the need to show off, then the Spyker is certainly the most interesting car at Starbucks!
After all, just look at the interior, it's by far one of the absolute best in history, the exposed gear linkage in the shifter, the quilted leather surrounding the entire cabin, the entire interior, every single little piece is either leather, aluminum, or glass, it's absolutely stunning. And I think the best part about this car, the part that has me sold, is that this is like a modern classic. The dashboard is flat, as in, vertical, just like so many vintage/classic cars, the rear end has that classic automobile look to it, and it's this old styling hints that make this car look so refined, beautiful and formal.
My only gripes are three things: Firstly, the tail lights, while old styled, are too old styled, they look dated, not classic, but that could probably be changed with a little hard work and some LED replacements (if such things exist idk). Secondly, no cup holders  -___-  but then again, to add cup holders would mean sacrificing the most beautiful gear shifter even conceived. Finally, the hard top (since this is a convertible) is a one piece detachable, which itself is not a problem, the problem is the back of it sloped down vertically, not gradually, so it looks a little strange, but of course if it were gradual it would cover some of the slits in the back that are there for the engine. These gripes however, are not enough to make anyone think twice about this car, it's simply fantastic, no matter what! Tell me what you think in the comments! Do you agree? Disagree?

Final Note: As a cool feature, since this is aimed at a market that's more refined, and sophisticated, there is a toggle to quiet the exhaust, so you don't wake your neighbours in your gated community.
